How to Get the Wedding Photos of Your Dreams

When you hire a wedding photographer, they are doing more than simply snapping pictures. Wedding photographers are there to tell the story of your wedding day. In order to have your wedding day story captured beautifully, you will need to communicate clearly with your photographer. Today, we are talking about how to get the wedding photos of your dreams.

There are a plethora of wedding photographers that you can pick from. Your decision on who you book should be about more than just finding someone. You are booking a photographer that will bring your dream to life in photos. Because of this, you want to make sure that you are confident the photographer you select is someone you can collaborate with.

We love making wedding photo dreams come true! If you would like to inquire about our services, send us an inquiry. We would love to talk with you about how we can serve you during this exciting time in your life!

3 Tips for Getting the Wedding Photos of Your Dreams

1. Create a shot list

Be honest and clear with your photographer. Let him/her know how you envision your wedding day and how you wish it to be captured. If you want a lot of posed portraits, let your photographer know. If you are really wanting a lot of documentary-style candids, say so. If details are really important to you and you want an editorial style for your photos, make that desire known.

A professional wedding photographer will know which photos to take on your wedding day for the most part. But if you are really wanting some very specific photos, you need to communicate that. Create a photo shot list that your wedding photographer can reference. We have a post specifically dedicated to the wedding day shot list that you can read.

Remember that there is only one chance for your wedding day to be photographed. There are no do-overs so you need to be clear and specific with your expectations and wants so that your photographer can work their magic to capture the love and joy of your special day.

2. Share your expectations

You should be hiring your wedding photographer that specializes in the style you love. Let them know exactly what style you are drawn to and dream of having for your own wedding photos. If you are wanting black and white images too, you need to be clear about that expectation before hand. This way your photographer can make plans to meet (and even exceed) those expectations.

3. Make a wedding album

We could go on and on about this. We are real advocates of printing your photos! Why? Because you are investing in your memories and they deserve to be on display. Your photos shouldn’t just live on your computer.

Making a wedding album is a lot of work and we understand that it can be a little daunting. We offer wedding albums that we design ourselves for couples that choose to invest in a wedding album with us. If you would like a professionally designed wedding album, we suggest talking to your wedding photographer to see if they offer those services or can recommend someone who does.

Final Thoughts

Honestly, wedding photographers can do some amazing things and it may even seem that they can do magic. But we aren’t mind readers. If you want the wedding photos of your dreams, you need to be open and communicate clearly. A seasoned photographer will help with starting these conversations and perhaps even give you some ideas or options you hadn’t previously thought of before. That is one of the many reasons we suggest going with an experienced, professional photographer.
