Oklahoma Country Chic Wedding

Filed in: {This is us}

We had the pleasure of mixing things up and photographing our first Oklahoma Country Chic Wedding. Samantha and Randy got married on June 30, 2018, at The Cedar Gate. The venue was beautiful with log buildings, open fields, and ponds throughout their grounds. It was the perfect backdrop for a wedding.

We woke up on the morning of the wedding on a hot and sunny day. There was some forecast for thunderstorms in the afternoon. However, the bride and mother of the groom were sure the rains would stay away. In fact, Samantha was so sure of the weather, that she didn’t even want to come up with an alternative plan if the rain did affect the outdoor ceremony space.

Daniel and I arrived at the venue in the early afternoon with the sun still shining brightly. Only a few clouds in the sky. However, by mid-afternoon, while the girls were getting ready, the storm clouds rolled in. The sky opened up and it began to pour rain. Not to be deterred by the weather, family, friends, and the groom’s party pitched in to quickly bring all the decor inside and wait out the storm.

The storm lasted for a couple of hours, but just in time for the first look, the clouds started to part and the sky was beautiful. All those that had helped bring in the decor helped to put it all back together again in record time. By the time Samantha and Randy, with the bridal party, arrived at the ceremony site, everything was beautiful once more for their Oklahoma country chic wedding.

The rain had cooled the air and the temperature during the ceremony was perfect. All of Samantha and Randy’s family and friends arrived and the rest of the day went off without a hitch. The ceremony was sweet and the reception was a hit.

We loved talking to the guests, learning how everyone knew the couple. Having grown up in a small town in Oklahoma, it seemed like the entire town showed up to celebrate Randy and his new bride. It was so fun discovering the lifelong friendships that Randy and Samantha had. Even more so, we were touched to see how many people came out to show their love, support, and happiness for the newly married couple.

Samantha and Randy’s wedding day reminds us of exactly how marriages are. We all start out hearing that there will be storms, but we don’t think they will come for us. Unfortunately, there will always be storms in our lives. Yet, if you patiently wait it out, the storm ends and the weather is even better and beautiful than it was before. We wish Samantha and Randy a lifetime of love, happiness, and beautiful weather after their storms.
