Wedding Morning Don’ts

wedding morning don'ts

The morning of your wedding day is a big deal. If you have been following our blog for a while, you have heard us say this multiple times already. But seriously, it really is. Why? Because your wedding morning is going to set the tone for your entire day. It’s also the time that things tend to “go wrong” or start to feel stressful. Instead of feeling stressed or anxious, we believe you should be focusing on the excitement and anticipation of marrying the love of your life. Today we are sharing a few wedding morning don’ts to help avoid the negative mess and have a fantastic start to your wedding day.

5 Wedding Morning Don’ts to Avoid Stressing

1. Don’t stick to tradition just for tradition’s sake

We love traditions. But the reason we love them is for the meaning and heart behind them. When a tradition is special to a couple for a specific reason, that’s what makes it beautiful. You don’t need to follow tradition just because it is tradition. Your wedding is personal and should reflect you and your values as a couple. Don’t let others try to sway you when it comes to your wedding. Especially not on the morning of your wedding! Plan, go with your gut, and enjoy those special hours as you get ready for your wedding.

3. Don’t play wedding coordinator

You might be tempted to think that no one can coordinate your wedding as you. Our answer to that is a resounding NO! Trust us, you do not want to be delegating tasks to yourself or your groom on the morning of your wedding. Hire a day-of wedding coordinator or at the very least recruit a family member or friend for the job. You do not want to be spending the morning of your wedding fielding questions from vendors, guests, and the wedding party. Especially not while you are trying to get ready.

You’ve spent months planning your wedding, now you need to trust that others will help you pull off the day of your dreams. That being said, make sure that the person you assign as coordinator is someone you can trust with this responsibility. They need to be organized, detail oriented, and doesn’t crack when under stress.

4. Don’t feel like you have to entertain everyone

Getting ready is a big part of the wedding day fun. You’ll be with the ladies in your life that you love and who love you. While it’s special to be with everyone, you do should not feel obligated to entertain them or host a “getting ready party”. If you want a peaceful morning, you should have that. If you do want a party feel for your wedding morning, have your bridesmaids handle the champagne, snacks, and playlist.

Check out our blog post on who to get ready with on your wedding day.

5. Don’t forget to have a backup plan

Weather is one of the biggest things that couples worry about while they are planning their wedding. Rain can put a big damper on things, especially if you are planning an outdoor wedding. Make sure that you have a solid back up plan. A wedding planner and your venue can help you develop a beautiful plan B. Having a backup plan will let you feel confident and happy on your wedding morning no matter what the weather does.

Final thoughts for wedding morning don’ts

There are so many things that can impact the morning of your wedding day. We recommend spending the morning with people who will keep you feeling happy and positive. The last thing you need is a Negative Nancy making you feel stressed or annoyed as you are getting ready for your wedding day. You can choose who you invite into your getting ready space. Read our blog post on who brides often get ready with.

Your bridesmaids will also greatly impact your wedding morning. Have a candid conversation with them and let them know your expectations and hopes for your wedding day prep. Check out our blog post on how bridesmaids can impact the bridal-prep.

Your wedding is your day. While there are going to be things that may be out of your control, you can choose how you will respond. Take a breath, choose to stay positive and enjoy every moment of your special day.
